As UX and Marketing Designer for the Shopify Search & Discovery app, I focused on helping merchants deliver exceptional shopping experiences. A UX Designer's Approach to Instagram Marketing
I took on the role of Marketing Designer to address a critical awareness gap for Shopify: highlighting the availability of industry-specific themes to potential merchants. The challenge was to overcome the perception that Shopify lacked relevant options for niche industries. Working closely with the brand and social teams, I spearheaded the design of targeted Instagram ad campaigns that showcased the diversity and quality of our industry-focused themes. Informed by platform-specific best practices, we shifted away from traditional product features and embraced a storytelling approach, knowing that Instagram audiences respond strongly to authentic narratives. The result was a series of visually engaging ads that effectively communicated the value of Shopify's industry themes and addressed the key concerns of our target audience – potential merchants seeking a perfect fit for their businesses.
